Product Introduction
Sodium silicate, commonly known as water glass, is a water-soluble inorganic silicate with the general formula Na₂O·nSiO₂. The modulus (molar ratio of SiO₂/Na₂O) ranges from 1.5 to 3.5. It is divided into liquid type and solid type, manufactured in strict accordance with GB/T 4209-2022 national standard. Featuring strong adhesion, high temperature resistance and acid & alkali corrosion resistance, it can solidify into silica gel by absorbing carbon dioxide in the air. As a fundamental bulk inorganic chemical raw material, it is widely used in casting, construction, chemical industry, detergent, textile and other fields. We support customized modulus and Baume degree according to customer requirements, with stable batch indicators and sufficient spot supply.
2. Physical and Chemical Properties
Sodium silicate is a stable inorganic silicate compound. The density of liquid product is 1.30~1.60g/cm³ (20℃) with strong alkalinity (pH 11~13). The melting point of solid sodium silicate is about 1088℃. It is easily soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. It precipitates silicate gel when reacting with acid. Higher modulus brings stronger bonding strength but lower water solubility, while lower modulus provides stronger alkalinity and faster dissolution. The product exhibits excellent adhesion, high temperature resistance, impermeability and sealing performance, with adjustable viscosity, density and modulus, low impurity content and good dispersion.
